With the increasing demand for consistently high quality and improved production efficiency, machine vision has become a necessity. Replacing human inspectors, Integral Vision systems automatically gauge, identify and inspect parts with speed and accuracy. Quantitative information about each part is then compared to a trained model to check for functional or cosmetic defects. Our systems can be configured to statistically monitor the production process, send data to other equipment in the manufacturing line and provide feedback for yield improvement. Target markets for our systems include displays (manufacturers & users), automotive and consumer products. Integral Vision has over 7 years of experience in the display industry, with over 300 systems installed worldwide. In addition to our already well-known LCI-Professional, we have developed the SharpEyeÔ for the inspection of small Flat Panel Displays (FPD's), OLED, LCOS, Poly OLED, and DMD devices. This technology is applied to consumer products such as camcorders, rear projection computer monitors, digital still cameras, HDTV, projectors, video headsets and video telephones. Integral Vision is heavily investing in R&D for this particular industry, as flat panel and microdisplay technology become more commercially available. LCI-Professional is designed for the inspection of LCD, Dot Matrix, Seven Segment, and Vacuum Fluorescent displays. Applications include cell phones, car radios, electronic organizers, and hand held video games. Functional and cosmetic defects are detected, such as short or open circuits, failed icons, single pixel defects, display uniformity, and compression damage. The Industrial Vision Controller (IVC) is an inspection application solution for general applications. Leveraging the ever increasing speed of Intel processors and the capabilities of the Windows XP Pro operating system, IVC systems are more powerful than "smart sensors" and more affordable than traditional systems based on proprietary hardware. A simple drag and drop graphical user interface (GUI) is used to configure the system for a variety of inspection tasks. Target markets for IVC include the automotive, biomedical/biotech, consumer products and electronics industries. IVC systems are sold through automation distributors serving machine builders, system integrators, and manufacturers. IVC's software component has been in development at Integral Vision for over 4 years and includes many tools from the popular VisionBlox library. New functionality is being added continuously to support the company's application solution activities in display inspection and other areas.
